On December 5th, NetherRealm studios lead programmer, Ed Boon tweeted out a poll.

The three options are:

  • Robin (Damien)-18%
  • Nightwing-26%
  • Red Hood-56%

The poll is still active while I’m writing this but its pretty much safe to assume that Red Hood is going to win by a very large margin.

This is not the first time NetherRealm have asked the people what they want. In the original Injustice, there was a vote for a Mortal Kombat character to make an appearance in Injustice, Scorpion won by a very large margin. Scorpion was then released as DLC for the game.

Before I go into all this, I want to discuss when the game will be coming out. If you look at the history of NetherRealm studios and when games have come out:

  • Mortal Komabt-04/19/2011
  • Injustice-04/16/2013
  • Mortal Kombat X-4/14/2015

I think you can figure out where I’m going with this. Injustice 2 will likely be released on 4/18/2017. This is speculation but I’m 90% sure that the game will be coming out in April of 2017 even though there hasn’t been an official announcement.

Taking all of this information, I can safely assume that the game will be out in 5 months. Now five months is not enough time to record voice actor, create the character, create the animations, balance the character so he fits with in the game and test for bugs. Its just not possible because NetherRealm is still working on and tweaking the game its self. So that leads to the likelihood that he will eventually be in the game and most likely DLC.

This almost means my favorite character from the original Injustice game will not be in the at the start and thats Nightwing. Now whether or not, he’ll be DLC later on. That I don’t know but for now, I’m going to safely assume he will not be returning and that makes me very sad.
